EDUCATION
TOUR
Since 1982, Opera Saratoga has toured an annual Opera production throughout the greater Capital and lower Adirondack regions of NY. The performances feature charismatic professional artists who love to share their joy of music and theater through the opera, as well as through question and answer sessions where students have the opportunity to meet the artists and learn about the music and what it takes to put on a performance.
-
To seed operatic artists and audiences of the future, Opera Saratoga knows its necessary to bring live, engaging, interactive performances to schools.
In a world where the default forms of entertainment for children are primarily television, video games, and the Internet, and music education is being cut, Opera Saratoga’s In-School Opera program provides youth with an all-too-rare opportunity to experience the visceral thrill of the live performing arts, up close and personal!
In the recent past, this performance has featured singers whose first encounter with opera was from Opera Saratoga.
-
Opera Saratoga's touring program includes a lesson plan/teacher’s study guide, followed by professionally staged opera performance in your school, along with a post-performance discussion between the artists and your students. After the show, we invite all of the participating schools to see a rehearsal of the Opera during the summer festival.
-
The lesson plan, performance and rehearsal invitation cost $750. Early bird pricing for 2027’s performance is $650 and is available through October 1.
You may be eligible for reimbursement for some or all of the program cost through your regional BOCES office, or with assistance from your PTA or other fundraising organizations.
